ABOUT THE SHOW

Summit is the proud producer of Your Working World, a first-of-its-kind career show on a dedicated business channel.

Your Working World is exactly what the future of business needs – young people who can make informed decisions about the careers they will be choosing.

The series is aimed at Summit's younger viewers and also at our older Summit viewership, be they parents or in a position to hire and fire at work, and is being produced in partnership with the Services Sector Education & Training Authority (SETA). The SETA's mandate ties in very well with the needs of our business community, that of identifying skills requirements in its various sectors, and ensuring adequate and appropriate skills are readily available to the sectors.

For the next 41 weeks Your Working World explores a range of sectors and their associated careers. Each week the spotlight falls on a particular career, and in the space of half an hour, the show features inserts with an employee or business owner in their working environment, and school learners who’re given the opportunity to ask questions about the career at hand.

The show’s anchor, Ivor Blumenthal, also the CEO of the Services Seta, then carries the discussion forward with expert guests in studio who not only give our younger viewers the “view from the top” but also answer the learners’ questions and tell them exactly what training and qualifications are needed for the career.

Ivor’s wealth of knowledge and learned presence is counter-balanced by Summit TV presenter, Stephina Zwane, who keeps the more experienced guests up to date with what the youth find interesting and want to know – from what it’s like to be a project manager in the construction industry, to special skills needed to become a beautician. The show prides itself on presenting honest debate and exposing any challenges and obstacles young people need to know about before starting out in their pursuit of a career.

Broadcast times are:
Wednesdays at 5pm and Thursdays at 10am and 1pm.
